Matt Baker & Wife Nicola Mooney Rare Appearance at Royal Event! (2025)

Imagine a world where we truly appreciate the hands that feed us. On Thursday, Matt Baker, the beloved television personality, made a rare public appearance alongside his stunning wife, Nicola Mooney, at a very special event – the National Harvest Festival held at the iconic Westminster Abbey on World Food Day.

This wasn't just any gathering; it was a powerful service dedicated to thanking farmers for their indispensable contribution to our nation. The event brought together 2,000 representatives from across the food industry, including those working in farming, food redistribution, and food banks. It was a day to acknowledge the backbone of our society and discuss the crucial issues surrounding food.

Nicola looked radiant in a classic black outfit, complemented by an elegant black pendant necklace. Matt, ever the gentleman, sported a smart grey suit, paired with a cheque shirt and a striking red tie. The service itself, which was graced by a surprise visit from Queen Camilla, focused on pressing matters such as achieving food self-sufficiency, reducing food waste, and combating food poverty. These are issues that affect us all, and it's vital that they're brought to the forefront.

The service was led by the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, with attendees representing community organizations, charities, and volunteer groups. Matt Baker himself played a significant role, delivering a reading during the proceedings. Actor Ross Kemp and his wife Renee O'Brien were also present, demonstrating the widespread support for this important cause.

But here's where it gets controversial... While the event highlighted the importance of food production, some might argue that more emphasis should be placed on sustainable farming practices and ethical treatment of animals. Is simply producing enough food enough, or do we need to consider the environmental and ethical implications of our food systems?

Matt and Nicola's appearance was especially heartwarming considering their enduring love story. Earlier this year, they celebrated their remarkable 21st wedding anniversary. Matt shared a touching message on social media, reminiscing about their wedding day: "Where does the time go! 21 years ago we were stood at the end of the aisle surrounded by friends, family and sheep in the churchyard to say I do - what an adventure we’ve had together so far…!"

Nicola's wedding day look was truly fit for royalty, featuring an elegant strapless gown, a tiara, and a veil. It's clear that Matt's love for his wife has only grown stronger over the years. In an interview with The Telegraph, Matt described meeting Nicola as the best moment of his life. He recounted how they met when he was performing in a 1970s-themed dance troupe called Disco Inferno. "I was working in a 1970s dance troupe called Disco Inferno when I was 18, touring the nightclubs of the North. We were performing in Cleethorpes and I spotted her as soon as she came in and plucked up the courage to go over. She was there as a punter and we got chatting. Then I had to perform, but I didn’t tell her. Weeks went by and I just used to disappear a quarter of the way through the evening. Eventually, she figured out that I was one of the performers. I'm so fortunate, it was the best day of my life when I met Nicola, there's no doubt about that."

And this is the part most people miss... It wasn't just about physical attraction; it was about connection, shared values, and building a life together. Their story serves as a reminder that lasting relationships are built on a foundation of love, respect, and shared experiences.

What are your thoughts on the National Harvest Festival and the issues it addresses? Do you think enough is being done to support farmers and combat food poverty? And what role do you believe individuals can play in creating a more sustainable and equitable food system? Share your opinions in the comments below!
