A thrilling Prem encounter between Gloucester and Bristol Bears ended with a 49-34 victory for the visitors, leaving the home side winless and in dire straits.
The Cherry and Whites' nightmare start to the season continues, with injuries mounting and a fourth consecutive defeat.
In a high-scoring affair at Kingsholm, Bristol's seven tries proved too much for Gloucester, despite a valiant effort from the hosts. Sam Worsley, Gabriel Oghre (2), Fitz Harding, Viliame Mata, and Kalaveti Ravouvou (2) crossed for the Bears, while Matias Alemanno, Seb Blake, Josiah Edwards-Giraud, Will Joseph, and James Venter scored for Gloucester.
But here's where it gets controversial... Bristol, despite having less possession and territory, were more clinical in their execution. Fly-half Worsley's early try set the tone, and the visitors' efficient use of their chances proved decisive.
And this is the part most people miss... Gloucester's injury woes are mounting. Winger Ollie Thorley's departure on a stretcher in the opening minutes added to their growing casualty list, which includes key players.
Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington summed up the situation: "It's pretty depressing... We've lost a lot of bodies, and when you're already losing, it's a tough ask."
Bristol, too, have their injury concerns, but they managed to secure their third Prem win of the campaign. Director of rugby Pat Lam acknowledged the challenges: "It's been a tough season so far, but we're focusing on clarity to give our players the best chance. We were lethal with the ball but had to defend a lot due to our missed high balls and set-piece issues."
So, what do you think? Is Bristol's efficiency a sign of a well-drilled team, or did Gloucester's injuries play a significant role in the outcome? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
